It all started with a journalism student, trying to find her voice in a sea of stories, deadlines, and bylines.
I remember the late nights spent scouring the internet for opportunities, the unanswered pitch emails, the missed fellowships I found out about too late. I remember wanting to connect with people who cared about truth, ethics, and storytelling. What I didn’t find was a space where students, freelancers, staffers, reporters coming together trying to build trust and collaboration with each other.
That’s where OFF THE RECORD was born, a platform built by journalists, for journalists.
